Hi, we are Claudia and Leslie, founders and inventors of VapoWesp.
A MOTHER-DAUGHTER PROJECT
We are Claudia and Leslie, founders and inventors of VapoWesp. We first had the idea for our company in October 2020.
In a difficult time, shortly before the second lockdown during the Corona pandemic, we encouraged each other and wanted to prove that you can create something exciting and new with a lot of drive and joy, even under difficult circumstances.
We are convinced that our VapoBox will help many people in the future to finally be able to enjoy a meal outdoors, carefree and wasp-free.

THE SPARKING IDEA
The brainwave came to us while watching television when inventors and start-ups presented their ideas in a show:
Why don't we "invent" a suitable smoker box and develop a powder with natural herbs, spices and fruits to improve the smell?
With great attention to detail, long test runs in the garden to put together the powder mixture in a balanced way and a few "mother-daughter discussions" we put our idea into practice and are proud of our VapoWesp smoker box and the matching VapoPowder varieties Orange & Rosemary, Hay Flowers & Thyme & Lemon & Basil and brand new Apple & Mint.

DID YOU KNOW ...
... that one in four people in Germany now reacts to wasp stings with intolerances and allergies?
Wasps can be real pests and it can quickly become dangerous if wasps invite themselves to you as soon as you bring tasty things to the table.
It's no secret that lighting coffee grounds drives away wasps. Our family has been using this well-known household remedy for many years to protect ourselves and our mini pig Whoopie from being stung when we want to eat outside or sit together.
Yes, you heard right, we have a pig girl named Whoopie. You'll see her regularly if you follow us on Instagram.
But over the years the same problems have always bothered us:
- We never found a suitable container for the coffee powder. Smoldering coffee powder becomes incredibly hot, ashtrays can hardly withstand this heat and the ash leaves ugly residue behind.
- When we “made” a container with aluminum foil, the wind blew the powder away.
- The rising smoke could not be regulated - when the wasps were scared away, we wished we could regulate the smoke.
- Smoldering coffee powder “pure” smells very unpleasant over time.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECT
We try to take the environment into consideration in every step of our work.
We only process high-quality and natural organic herbs, spices and fruits.
We consciously chose not to use plastic in our packaging. This is how we contribute to the preservation of nature with our products.
Our VapoWesp starter set, for example, contains a practical jute bag so that you not only have a dust bag for your smoker box, but can also take it with you comfortably and safely when traveling.
All packaging materials are 100% recyclable. You can use the cooled ash of the powder mixture as an organic fertilizer for flowers and plants.
Our start-up journey is exciting and thrilling, full of happy moments, great encounters but also peppered with challenges – we report on this in our podcast.
THE LION'S DEN
VAPOWESP IMPRESSED THE JURY
Claudia and Leslie, the founders of VapoWesp, presented themselves as authentic and friendly. The mother-daughter team convincingly explained their product and presented the ingenious smoker box including the herbal mixtures.
The “lions” were able to get an idea of the effectiveness and pleasant smell of the herbal mixtures, but also of the sophisticated concept. The jury was thrilled by so much inventiveness – and by a solution to a problem that will interest millions of people.
With the fastest offer in the history of the TV show, the founders were able to choose between four offers from the lions.
VAPOWESP GETS TAILWIND
RALF DÜMMEL CONTINUES THE PATH WITH US
Enthusiasm quickly turned into a deal – “Löwe” Ralf Dümmel awarded us the contract.
Since the broadcast, he has supported us with all his expertise and, together with his team, has been actively supporting us from the very beginning.
This has resulted in much more than just a business relationship, for which we are grateful every day.

We are convinced of our idea and our product - that goes without saying. However, the greatest recognition, day after day, is the customer feedback that reaches us via various channels. Especially if we can make spending time outdoors more carefree for people and animals.
We are very honored that a panel of experts from German industry has now nominated the product for the “Green Innovator” and “Green Product” categories!
We were recently able to officially accept the "Green Innovator Award 2023" when our lion dad Ralf Dümmel visited us in our new warehouse in Stuttgart. This award is presented by the medium "Die Deutsche Wirtschaft" . Thank you for the great award and recognition!
