The VapoGroup GmbH from Stuttgart is pleased to announce that its brand VapoWesp has been awarded the prestigious audience award "Green Innovator of the Year".
The honor was given during the well-known startup show "Die Höhle der Löwen" by investor Ralf Dümmel and recognizes the innovative and sustainable solution for natural wasp repellent. Innovative solution based on a proven home remedy VapoWesp is based on a traditional home remedy: lighting coffee grounds to repel wasps. The founders Claudia and Leslie Eckert have further developed this principle and created an elegant bamboo incense box as well as flavored organic herbal blends. This combination enables an effective, environmentally friendly and insect-friendly wasp repellent without the use of toxins.
Success story of a mother-daughter startup
The idea for VapoWesp arose during the first Corona lockdown in October 2020. Mother Claudia and daughter Leslie Eckert used the time to jointly develop a sustainable product. Within four months, they turned the proven home remedy into a market-ready product and founded VapoGroup GmbH. The appearance on the VOX startup show "Die Höhle der Löwen" in May 2022 led to a successful pitch and a partnership with investor Ralf Dümmel. Within six weeks after the broadcast, the company achieved a sales turnover of 4 million euros. Recognition for sustainability and innovation.
The award as "Green Innovator of the Year" underscores the importance of VapoWesp as a sustainable alternative to conventional wasp repellents. The products are plastic-free, recyclable, and the remaining ash can be used as organic fertilizer.
